I’ve always been a big reader. The first chapter book I remember reading by myself was Dream Pony, an old book by Elinore Havers, published in 1962. It took me about a week to get through but it was the first time I was able to enter a world all on my own, and I loved it. From there I read Enid Blyton, Agatha Christie, the babysitters club, the Little Bush Maid series, Christian books, autobiographies, old books, new books… anything I could get my hands on really. At eleven I fell in love with Terry Pratchett and spent the next few years trying to read every book he ever wrote. At 14 I discovered Young Adult fiction, which is still my favourite genre to read all these years later. I loved the library and at the start of the school holidays would go on a “library crawl” with my dad, visiting every library around to get the best selection, and would then stay up late reading under the covers with a torch.
I’d like to have a touching story about my love of film to share here too, but really, I just like movies. I see pretty much everything that’s out, and I’ve come to enjoy critiquing bad ones almost as much as watching good ones.
This blog will be a mixture of book and movie reviews, focusing on a range of genres, styles and publication dates. I’ll be sharing things I loved and things I hated and everything in between. Hopefully you’ll find something new that you like, and there’ll be some pleasant surprises along the way.
Hi, my name is Bethanie. Welcome to my blog.
